#tbt of Lauren last year. Losing hair is THE sign of having cancer and it was a daunting reminder of how serious this whole process is. Now her hair has grown back but the fight remains. Childhood cancer is considered rare if you haven’t been introduced to the community but it’s not. Sometimes you just can’t tell. Most kids are kept indoors for risk of infection, and once that risk is lowered, the regrowth of the hair starts. Just because you don’t see the signs or hear the chatter does not mean that pediatric cancer is not in your community. It’s there and it’s everywhere.

This is one of my personal favorite photos of Lauren. I always thought she pulled off the baldy look. Still smiling and in love with her doll. If only she knew….
