Lauren’s counts came back up to 100 on Wednesday with many premature cells that had developed over night which was promising for the Doctors to see. Though her appetite has decreased over the past couple of days her energy is great and has enjoyed the daily visits to the Play Room, Library and the strolls with her baby doll around the wing.

Yesterday we woke up to the great news that the cells have matured into neutrophils and her ANC has jumped to 900- which is EXACTLY what we wanted. The Doctors believe that her daily chemo (mercaptopurine and methotrexate) are what’s knocking her down. They indicated that her bone marrow has most likely become weak due to the constant medication and will have to re-evaluate her dosage. At this point we are moving forward at 50% of each and will re-check counts on Monday when we return to the hospital for our scheduled Lumbar Puncture. The silver lining for Monday is that she will also begin her steroids which always gives her the boost her body needs, and hopefully her appetite back as well.

Thank you for all the prayers. We are SO happy that she is home and we are all together again!
